Welcome to Wenatchee: A Design Shaped by its Surroundings

Perched above the Wenatchee River with expansive mountain views, this full-home renovation was designed to embrace its natural setting. Completed over a two-year period, the project focused on reimagining the floor plan to enhance sight lines, maximize natural light, and create a connection between the interior and surrounding landscape. Our goal was to create a space that feels elevated yet restorative—with every element chosen to complement, rather than compete with, the views beyond. After finalizing the floor plan, we selected finishes, paint, and hardware for the kitchen and bathrooms, then layered in soft textures and elegant furnishings throughout the living room, dining room, and primary bedroom to create a cohesive design.

Floor Plans

When beginning a full-home renovation, we always start by designing the floor plan. We take measurements and photos of the home as it currently exists, then draw it to scale and rework the layout in a way that best supports flow and functionality. For Wenatchee 1946, we wanted each room to feel distinct in its own right, while ensuring the overall space felt open and connected.

Kitchen

Originally closed off from the living and dining areas, the kitchen lacked both storage and functional workspace. Combined with dated appliances and finishes, the space called for a more balanced design. We began by selecting hard surfaces that offer a soft, quiet appeal—echoing the natural surroundings just beyond. At the same time, we wanted the kitchen to feel timeless and classic. Key features include:

  • Classic white Shaker cabinetry

  • Oil-rubbed bronze hardware paired with glass knobs and polished nickel plumbing

  • Thassos marble subway tile backsplash

  • Calacatta marble countertops

  • Updated stainless steel appliances, including a wall oven, range, and beverage refrigerator

  • A bar that serves as both a prep area and a visual connection to the living room

  • Pendant lighting above the bar

Dining Room

Moving into the dining room, our aim was to carry the serene palette established in the kitchen into a space for gathering—one that feels welcoming and vibrant, yet still calm. We began with a piece of artwork created by our client, using it as a foundation for the design. From there, we selected a botanical, neutral-toned wallpaper inspired by both the playful nature of the artwork and the surrounding landscape. The space was furnished with natural materials, including a sisal rug, wicker dining chairs, linen upholstery, and a wood and metal dining table. To add a layer of refinement and complete the room, we chose an elegant crystal chandelier.

Living Room

In the living room, our focus was on selecting key furnishings that would bring the entire home together. We chose transitional pieces that balance traditional and contemporary elements, layering in texture, pattern, and natural materials to create a space that feels inviting and visually dynamic. Key features include:

  • Sofa with a rolled arm for a subtle nod to traditional design

  • Neutral color palette with soft, tactile fabrics

  • Classic, airy patterns for added visual interest

  • Beachwood coffee table to introduce a natural, organic element

  • Layered rugs, including a sisal base and a secondary patterned rug for added color and texture

Primary Bedroom & Bath

The primary bedroom suite was a meaningful space to bring together, as our aim was to create a quiet retreat within an already serene home. For the bedroom, we selected furnishings that are both elegant and functional, maintaining a cohesive color palette while introducing subtle pattern through pillows and window treatments.

The bathroom was completely redesigned. Similar to the kitchen, our goal was to improve flow and functionality while introducing updated finishes that reflect the elevated feel of the rest of the home. After reworking the space plan, we selected finishes that would make the design feel harmonious, classic and refined. Key features include:

  • Gray-stained maple cabinetry

  • Polished nickel plumbing fixtures and hardware

  • Calacatta stone mosaic backsplash

  • Calacatta hex tile flooring

  • Classic white subway tile for the shower surround

  • Timeless lighting fixtures above the vanity and freestanding tub that are both functional and elegant
