Belgrove 1939
Located in Seattle’s Blueridge neighborhood, this home was built in 1939 originally designed in a mid-century modern style. The home was re-imagined for a young family who envisioned a brighter, more inviting coastal cottage aesthetic that embraced the views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.
We focused our design on layering playful color, texture, and functionality to reflect the surrounding coastal landscape. The renovation and furnishing scope included the kitchen, living room, dining room, primary bedroom, office, and children’s bedrooms.
In the living and dining rooms, we introduced bright, playful colors, textures and vintage elements to create spaces that feel cheerful yet collected. Custom built-ins provide ample storage while supporting everyday family life and entertaining. The kitchen layout was reworked to improve flow and functionality. The terracotta hex tile flooring and built-in banquette create a dynamic feeling with layers of color and texture.
In the primary bedroom, we created a cozy retreat using a romantic color palette and pattern play throughout the wallpaper and soft textures. Custom built-in closets were designed to provide ample storage, while seamlessly blending into the architecture and millwork of the rest of the home. The result is a light-filled, functional space that honors its surroundings and embraces a relaxed, coastal cottage style.
